Arthur Miller

Date of birth: February 4th, 1915
Place of birth: New York.
His father: Isidore Miller, a shop owner ruined in the depression.
1932 Arthur Miller graduated from high school and began working at a warehouse in order to pay his school.
1934 He entered the University of Michigan where he studied journalism and won several awards for playwriting
1938 Arthur Miller joined the Federal Theatre Project
1944 Miller wrote his first play to appear on Broadway, entitled The Man Who had all the Luck, but it was not very successful.
1945 Miller wrote a novel about anti semitism, called Focus.
1949 He became famous thanks to Death of A Salesman.
1950 Miller was subjected to a scrutiny by a committee of the United States Congress investigating Communist influence in the arts. He was denied a passport to attend the Brussels premiere of his play The Crucible. This play received the Antoinette Perry Award.
1956 Miller received a honorary degree at the University of Michigan.
1965 Arthur Miller was elected president of a literary organization called P.E.N.
1990 Miller wrote The Ride Down Moutn Morgan
2002 Play writer Arthur Miller received the Prince of Asturias Literature Prize.
2005 Arthur Miller died in Connecticut, on February 10, 2005.
