Lambert Wilson left a distinct mark on the 67th Cannes Festival 2015 ceremonies with his elegance, poise and lyrical eloquence while evoking his love of cinema. At the end of the Awards ceremony in which Winter Sleep by Nuri Bilge Ceylan garnered the prize, the actor concluded with the following words: “The world is written in an incomprehensible language, but cinema helps us translate it universally. Without its guiding light, everyone would be stuck in the dark of the night.”

On the invitation of the Festival, he has agreed to become again Master of Ceremonies for this 68th Cannes Festival 2015, which will take place from May 13th to 24th this year. On May 13th, during the Opening ceremony, he will launch the celebrations by welcoming the Coen brothers, Presidents of the 2015 Jury, onto the stage of the Palais des Festivals. He will also host the Awards ceremony to close the Festival on Sunday, May 24th.

Joel and Ethan Coen to preside over the Jury of the 68th Festival de Cannes

For the first time in the history of the Cannes Festival 2015, not one but two leading figures will chair the Jury.
Indeed, American filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen have accepted the invitation from President Pierre Lescure and General Delegate Thierry Frémaux to become the Presidents of the 68th edition of the Festival.

“We look forward to returning to Cannes this year”,Joel and Ethan Coen said from the Hail Caesar! film shoot with George Clooney, Christophe Lambert, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Josh Brolin and Channing Tatum. “We welcome as always the opportunity to watch movies there from all over the world. Cannes is a festival that has been important to us since the very beginning of our career. Presiding over the Jury is a special honour, since we have never heretofore been president of anything. We will issue further proclamations at the appropriate time.”

Abderrahmane Sissako, President of the Cinéfondation and Short Films Jury

In 2014, the internationally acclaimed Timbuktu caused the greatest emotion among the films in Competition at the Festival de Cannes. This year, Mauritanian director Abderrahmane Sissako returns for the 68th Festival (13-24 May), where he will serve as President of the Cinéfondation and Short Films Jury.

This great poet of contemporary Africa will follow in the footsteps of illustrious directors such as Abbas Kiarostami, Jane Campion, Michel Gondry, Hou Hsiao-hsien and Martin Scorsese.
