The Jury of Un Certain Regard will be presided by Monte
Hellman.
The Jury of the Golden Camera will be presided by Luc and
Jean-Pierre Dardenne.
The Actor's MasterClass will be given on Friday, May 19th by Gena
Rowlands.
The Music MasterClass by Alexandre Desplat, in dialogue with
Jacques Audiard, will take place on Sunday, May
21st.
The Cinema MasterClass will be hosted by Sydney Pollack on
Thursday, May 25th. On this occasion he will present his documentary
SKETCHES OF FRANK GEHRY.
A brand-new exhibit devoted to Sergei M. Eisenstein will
present, in counterpoint to the better known work of the director, a collection
of his erotic drawings. The programme will culminate with the screening of
October (1927), Bezhin Meadow (1937) and Alexander
Nevsky (1938).
The poster of Un Certain Regard honours it with an original drawing for a
theatre costume.
For Europe Day on Tuesday, May 23rd: the Festival de Cannes will welcome,
along with the European Commission, the European Ministers of Culture as well as
motion-pictures celebrities, on the theme: "European films go global".
 Vincent Cassel will be the Master of Ceremonies of the forthcoming Festival
de Cannes.
He will launch the 59th edition on May 17, 2006, by welcoming the
President of the Jury Wong Kar Wai and his Jury onto the stage of the Palais des
Festivals.
He will equally host the Closing Ceremony, on Sunday, May 28th, at
which the Awards will be announced.
Vincent Cassel was invited for the very first time to the Festival de Cannes
in 1995 for Mathieu Kassovitz's Hate, which launched his career and
became a cult movie for an entire generation. Considered as the muse of young
French cinema, he notably shoots, along with Christophe Gans, Jan Kounen and
Jacques Audiard, Read My Lips (2001), which provides him with one of
his greatest roles. Vincent Cassel returns to Cannes in 2002 with Gaspard Noé's
Irreversible, which sets off a storm of debate amongst audiences and
critics alike. In 2004, his part in Ocean's Twelve marks the beginning
of his international career.
The Da Vinci Code, directed by Ron Howard and produced by Brian
Grazer and John Calley from Columbia Pictures and Imagine
Entertainment, will open the Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film
Festival) on Wednesday May 17, 2006. The film will be presented
Out of Competition.
