Elizabeth attended NY's High School of the Performing Arts.

1979 She made her professional debut in the film El Super.

1986 She acted in the comedy film Down and Out in Beverly Hills with Bette Midler, Richard Dreyfuss and Nick Nolte.

1996 Thanks to her role in the film Lone Star she received the Independent Spirit and Bravo awards and then also the ALMA Award for Tortilla Soup five years later.

2004 Elizabeth  is the voice of "Mirage" in the movie The Incredibles, of Walt Disney-Pixar productions

2005 Elizabeth Pena plays a role in the film Transamerica, directed by Duncan Tucker.
