He was a vegetarian for four years.
Guillermo del Toro has a degree on special effects since he was very young.

1974 He became a vegetarian after seeing The Texas Chain Massacre but only for four years. 

He made his first film "La invención de Cronos" on 1993. This film was very well received at the Cannes Film Festival.

Guillermo del Toro admires insects, which he considers amazing perfect creatures.

There are four permanent elements in his movies: religion, black humour, insects and "tiliches" (a sort of elves).

He is currently working on a new production "Hellboy", a filmic adaptation of Mike Mignola's famous comic.

He has the intention to direct a film about a love story inside a meat store, and to direct the film "El Ultimo día de la Creación", a co production Mexico - USA, as well as an adaptation of "El conde de Montecristo".

2002 October. Del Toro received the Award "La Máquina del Tiempo" (Time Machine) during the 35th Ceremony of the Festival de Cine Fantastico Sitges, in Spain

2005 Guillermo del Toro has begun filming "El laberinto del fauno", his new film, wich will be produced by Estudios Picasso and Tequila Gang, with the collaboration of Telecinco, and will be distributed by Warner Sogefilms.
