Hector Elizondo was born in West Harlem in New York and grew up on 107th Street in Manhattan. He won an Obie for his leading role in Bruce Jay Friedman's Steambath in 1969. He is also an accomplished guitarist, singer and dancer.
His wife, Carolee Campbell is an actress and studied ballet at the Carnegie Foyer in order to become a professional dancer. They got married in 1969.
1990 Hector acted with both Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, he was given a Golden Globe award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
1999 Hector acted again with Gere and Roberts in the movie Runaway Bride, directed by Garry Marshall. That same year he was directed by Phil Joanou in Wntropy.
2000 Hector Elizondo was selected by Alfonso Arau to play a role in his film Picking up the pieces.
2004 With strong supporting turns by Hector Elizondo and Mandy Moore (in one of her first acting roles), The Princess Diaries put a fresh spin on the family friendly coming-of-age genre.
