1925 John Wayne went to USC on a football scholarship

1930 He acted for the first time, in the film Men Without Women

1942 John Wayne participated in some radio series: The Three Sheets to the Wind

1944 Wayne helped found the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals.

1949 He was nominated for an Academy Award for the film Sands of Iwo Jima

1960 John Wayne produced, directed and starred in the film The Alamo.

1964 Wayne inherited his father’s lung cancer, he had one lung removed.

1978 Still suffering from a bad health, he had a heart valve replacement surgery, and short after, he had his stomach removed.
