The chinese new year celebration (The year of the Rat)

The chinese new year celebration (The year of the Rat) started on february 7th. This is the most important celebration of the chinese community in Mexico and all asian people living in America.

In order to celebrate this special date, chinese and mexican people joined in a parade that took place at Paseo de la Reforma, one of the most beautiful avenues of Mexico City.

Boys dressed in chinese costumes, colored dragons, music, sports and asian songs, colored cars and a happy environment lead people to express their fascination for this ancient culture.

Marcelo Ebrard, governor of Mexico City and Yin Henming, chinese ambassador in Mexico inagurated an ivory monument that Chinese government gave as a gift to this city in order to celebrate 200 years of friendship and excellent relationship between both countries.

According to chinese tradition, the year of the rat represents prosperity. The rat is for asian cultures an animal that brings good news, health and luck in business and commerce
