Swedish-American pop art sculptor known for his large-scale works using everyday objects and for his public art installations. He would often replicate everyday objects using cloth and other soft materials. He won the Wolf Prize in Arts in 1989.

He formed a relationship with sculptor Hannah Wilke in 1969 and later married Coosje van Bruggen in 1977.
