Before living in Los Angeles, Ricardo attended The University of the Incarnate Word in his native San Antonio, Texas. He also studied dramatic art at the University of California San Diego.

He acted in Touchstone's The Alamo

2000 He received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of San Diego

2003 Ricardo acted in some episodes of Six Feet Under and The Division. He starred in the Seattle Rep & Missouri Rep co-production of Living Out.

2004 He plays the role of  Mr. Solis, the very jealous husband of Eva Longoria in Desperate Housewives

2005 Ricardo Chavira Will be the guest speaker at the 2005 Warren College Commencement at his alma mater, UCSD.  In June, he participated in the Monte-Carlo Film Festival
