Richard Griffiths will soon be seen in Nicholas Hytner’s film version of “The History Boys”, produced by VENUS’ Kevin Loader, in which he reprises his Tony and Olivier Award-winning role, Hector.

His feature film credits include Sir Richard Attenborough’s “Gandhi” (1982); Richard Eyre’s “Stage Beauty” (2004); “Harry Potter” I, II & III; Roland Joffé’s “Vatel” (2000); Tim Burton’s “Sleepy Hollow” (1999); Hugh Wilson’s “Guarding Tess” (1994); Richard Lester’s “Superman II” (1980); Lindsay Anderson’s “Britannia Hospital” (1982); Peter Chelsom’s “Funny Bones” (1995); Mark Herman’s “Blame It On The Bellboy” (1992); David Zucker’s “Naked Gun 2” (1991); David S. Ward’s “King Ralph” (1991); Martin Campbell’s GoldenEye (1995); Bruce Robinson’s “Withnail and I” (1987); Jim Goddard’s “Shanghai Surprise” (1986); Malcolm Mowbray’s “A Private Function” (1984); Michael Apted’s “Gorky Park” (1983); Karel Reisz’ “The French Lieutenant's Woman” (1981); Milos Forman’s “Ragtime” (1981); and Hugh Hudson’s “Chariots of Fire” (1981).

Griffiths’ work in UK theatre includes “Luther” at the National; ”The White Guard”, ”Once in a Lifetime” (at the Piccadilly), the title role in ”Henry VIII”, ”Volpone” and ”Red Star” for the Royal Shakespeare Company; ”Art” at Wyndham's; ”The Man Who Came To Dinner” and ”Katherine Howard” at Chichester; and ”Heartbreak House”, the title role in ”Galileo” and ”Rules of the Game” at the Almeida. He recently appeared in the West End production of ”Heroes” co-starring Ken Stott and John Hurt.

On television, he has appeared in ”The Brides in the Bath”, ”The Truth”, ”TLC”, ”History of Britain”, ”Gormenghast”, ”Hope and Glory”, ”Inspector Morse”, ”Pie in the Sky” (Series 1-4), “In the Red”, “Ted and Ralph”, “Nobody's Perfect”, “Amnesty”, “Bird of Prey”, “Whoops Apocalypse”, “The World Cup - A Captain's Tale”, “The Cleopatras”, “The Merry Wives of Windsor”, “Anything Legal Considered”, “Ffizz”, “The Marksman”, “A Kind of Living”, “A Wanted Man”, “Perfect Scoundrels”, “The Good Guys”, “El Cid” and “Mr Wakefield's Crusade”.
