Terry O'Quinn attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.

1970 O'Quinn began his acting career in films such as Tombstone and Heaven's Gate.

1990 He appeared on Earth 2, Moonlighting, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and JAG.

1995, O'Quinn began a series of guest appearances in shows produced by The X-Files producer Chris Carter.

2002 He made a special appearance on Alias before working on, The West Wing.

2003 Terry O'Quinn got a call from Abrams indicating that the producer wanted to cast him (without any audition needed) in his new television drama Lost, about a group of people stranded on a mysterious island after a plane crash. He acts with Evangeline Lilly, Dominic Monaghan, Emilie de Ravin, and Matthew Fox.

2005, O'Quinn received an Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in a drama for his work as John Locke on Lost.
