Tim Burton studied animation in the Californian Institute of the Arts and obtained a job as a host in the Walt Disney Studios.

Tim Burton worked in his own projects, and did the shooting of his first short film in 1982: Vincent, he was awarded with two prizes at the Chicago Festival.

1984 Tim Burton directed his 27-minute live-action Frankenweenie which was never released because it was considered to be unsuitable for young audiences

1985 He directed Pee-wee's Big Adventure

1988 Tim Burton's first famous film was Beetlejuice with Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Michael Keaton, followed by Scissors Hands in 1990, with the actors Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder

2002 Burton directed the film Planet of the Apes.

2003 Burton's son Billy, mothered by actress Helena Bonham Carter, was born in October.

2003 Tim Burton directed the film Big Fish and one of the most popular directors of the decade.

2005  He offered a role to Johnny Depp in his film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , and is currently preparing another animated film, The Corpse Bride

2010 The Cannes Film Festival has announced that Tim Burton will head up the jury for the 63rd running of the event this May. Burton previously served on Isabelle Adjani's jury in 1997 while his Ed Wood screened in competition at the festival in 1995.
