Her mother was a swedish model and psychiatrist.

Her father, Robert F. A. Thurman, is a famous professor of buddhist studies and of literature, he became a buddhist Tibetan Monk.

Her brother: Dechen Thurman, actor

Uma thurman attended the Northfield Mount Hermon boarding school in Massachusetts. Dropped out at age 15 when she was discovered by two New York businessmen while she was acting in the play "The Witches of Salem", at her school in New England.

1997 Uma Thurman was offered the role of Rose in the film Titanic, directed by James Cameron, but whe refused it.

2003 Uma Thurman acted in the Tarantino film Kill Bill, playing the role of the Bride.

2004 Uma Thurman played the role of The Bride, Beatrix Kiddo and Black Mamba in the film Kill Bill: Vol. 2 directed by Quentin Tarantino.

2005 Uma Thurman is confirmed to star in the upcoming bog-screen version of The  producers, taking over Nicole Kidman, who was supposed to play Swedishsecretary Ulla. Kidman had pulled out because of scheduling difficulties. Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick will reprise their Broadway stage roles of crooked theatre producers Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom in the movie.
