1926 Virginia began taking dance lessons with her aunt.

1937 She graduated from high school and became a member of the St. Louis Municipal Opera.

1940 Virginia Mayo met Samuel Goldwin at an MGM talent competition, she got a contract.

1943 She acted in the film Jack London and in Follies Girl.

1944 Virginia Mayo acted with Bob Hope in the film The Princess and the Pirate

1947 She became famous playing the role of Rosalinda van Hoorn in the film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

1952 She acted in the film She's Working Her Way Through College

1990 Virginia Mayo played her last role in the big screen,  as Janet Wilson in the film Evil Spirits

2005 Virginia Mayo, whose honey blonde hair and creamy, flawless face had made her ideal for the Technicolor musicals, westerns and adventures so popular in the 1940s and '50s, died Monday at a nursing home in suburban Thousand Oaks following a year of declining health. She was 84
