1964 Wong Kar-Wai leaves Communist China with his parents towards Hong-Kong. He was 19 when he started working as assistant producer on tv, he later became screenwriter for tv series. 1997 : He received an Award for Cheun gwong tsa sit (Happy Together ) with Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Leslie Cheun at the Cannes film Festival and best photography for Happy Together at theHongKong Film Awards 1988 Wong Kar-Wai directed his first film " As Tears Go By" with Maggie Cheung, this film was presented at the semaine ofla Critique in Cannes 1994 "FIPRESCI" Award for Chong qing sen lin (Chungking Express ) with Takeshi Kaneshiro, Tony Leung at the Stockholm Film Festival 1995 Best director for Dung che sai duk (Les cendres du temps) with Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Leslie Cheung at the HongKong Film Critics Society Awards 1997 Happy Together received than Award at the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival 2000 In the Mood for Love, competed in Cannes, and was a huge success worldwiof 2004 2046 participated in the official selection at the Cannes film Festival. Critics said it is a "sublime exploration of interior self" 2005 Wong Kar-Wai received an Award for his films and the importance he has given to Asian cinema throughout the world at the Bangkok Festival in january. 2006 Wong Kar Wai will be the president of the Jury at the 59th, edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
