2000 Connie Nielsen played the role of Princess Lucilla in the film Gladiator directed by Russell Crowe.

1993 she made her English language film debut as a terrorized passenger in the made-for-TV thriller Voyage

2003 Connie Nielsen starred in the film Demonlover, a thriller directed by Olivier Assayas.

2004 She won Best Actress Awards from the Danish Academy Awards and from the San Sebastian Film Festival for her role in the Danish drama Brødre (aka Brothers).

2005 Connie Nielsen acted  with Benjamin Bratt in the World War II epic The Great Raid directed by John Dahl and produced by Miramax. She also acted in the film The Ice Harvest with John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton and Randy Quaid, directed by Harold Ramis. for Focus Features.

Wolf Films and NBC Universal announced that Connie Nielsen will fill-in for Golden Globe winner Mariska Hargitay on NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" since the actress goes on maternity leave. The six episode run marks Nielsen's first primetime appearance on American television in her extensive film career.
