Synopsis

Still the Water : Kawase is an internationally acclaimed filmmaker who served as a Cannes Film Festival jury member earlier this year. Her films have been nominated for the Palme d’Or several times, and in 2007 she won the Grand Prix for The Mourning Forest.

Her new film stars Tetta Sugimoto, Miyuki Matsuda, Makiko Watanabe,Jun Murakami, Hideo Sakaki, and Fujio Tokita. It’s set on the island of Amami Ōshima and is themed around people’s coexistence with nature as life and death are intertwined.
