Todd Solondz
Born October 15, 1959 in Newark, New Jersey (USA).
Todd Solondz made several short films as a student in NYU : amongst them FEELINGS and BABY SITTER. The President of 20th Century Fox, convinced of his talent, offered him a contract for the screenwriting of three feature films which will never be made.
In 1995, he produced, wrote and directed WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE which is selected in Competition at the Deauville American Film Festival and at the Sundance Film Festival where it received the Jury Prize. Three years later, he wrote and directed HAPPINESS which won the Critics’ Prize in the Festival de Cannes and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay. His next film STORYTELLING premiered at the 2001 Festival de Cannes in the Un Certain Regard section and was named one of the “ten best films of the year” by The New York Times.
In 2004, PALINDROMES premiered in Competition at the Venice Film Festival and five years later, LIFE DURING WARTIME won the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice Film Festival.
DARK HORSE is Todd Solondz’s sixth feature film.
